Ordered today, delivered tomorrow

With 15,000 booksellers, 22,000 publishers worldwide and processing some 250,000 items per day Gardners Books is now Britain’s leading book wholesaler.

In addition to the supply of traditional printed books Gardners Books also offers customers e-books, audio books and DVDs. To meet constantly increasing demands with improved efficiency the book wholesaler recently decided to order a second automated book storage warehouse. The new warehouse has space for 64,000 tote bins containing over a million books, more than doubling the first warehouse in the adjacent building built in 2007 with 57,000 tote bins.

For the new book storage system Japanese material handling experts Daifuku Europe is supplying 18 stacker cranes and associated equipment and conveyors. The supply also includes a 25m long x 41m wide x 14m high rack and the warehouse management system.
